Description
(SOLD) This specific E-type has had the same owner for the last 38 years. Recently, British car specialists completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal and painted silver to concours standards. There’s been an exceptional attention to underbody detail with all new rubber and chrome plating as necessary. The interior was refurbished when the car was painted and includes new leather, new carpet, new trunk mat, and new interior trim material. The top was replaced with a new cloth top and with new cloth boot. The car was completely repainted, color sanded and buffed, and all of the major mechanical components were removed and rebuilt or replaced as necessary. The components were detailed to concours standards before reassembly. The original matching number engine is fitted to the car, and was completely rebuilt using hardened seats in for the acceptance of non-leaded fuel and reliability. The original transmission was rebuilt and refitted to the car. The complete suspension was restored and reassembled. The hydraulic system was rebuilt as needed and detailed. A complete new wiring harness was installed for reliability. The exhaust manifolds were replaced with new porcelain, and a new stainless steel system was installed. New Dunlop original size tires were mounted on the excellent condition original chrome wire wheels. Classic Showcase has performed a recent service and detail. Since this is a two owner car, all of the accessories that are usually missing or lost are still with the car. This is a beautiful example of one of the most admired cars ever built, and a car you’ll always take pride in showing off and always enjoy driving!
History
This XKE has always been an “extra” car, kept in a garage and used for fun rather than transportation. It has never been run down and has been extensively refurbished and detailed to concours standards. Most of its components are original to the car and everything has been refurbished and detailed. It is not a modern compilation of reproduction parts of questionable origin. It is truly a special car.
