(SOLD) This beautiful 1966 Jaguar Series 1 E-type Roadster has received a comprehensive, no expense spared, documented restoration by well-known Jaguar professionals. The XKE is in a spectacular color combination of Red over a Black interior, and has benefited from an extensive list of high performance upgrades and comfort options. During the XKE’s restoration, it was stripped down to bare metal, then painted, and wet sanded and buffed to its beautiful finish. The interior of the roadster has been trimmed with a new BASS interior, and is complimented with restored bows, and a new soft top. Under the bonnet, the E-Type’s engine and suspension were completely rebuilt, and all other systems were carefully gone through to ensure great driving pleasure. The roadster features a number of mechanical and performance upgrades, which includes rebuilding the 4.2 liter with overhead cam engine, Headers, Triple SU carburetors, a 5 speed fully synchronized transmission and high torque starter, a stainless-steel exhaust, Gaz adjustable shocks, Wilwood brakes, braided stainless brake lines, an alloy radiator with auxiliary fan, and poly bushings throughout. Since the restoration, the roadster has been well cared for, and has been recently sorted by marque specialists at Classic Showcase of Oceanside, CA. With optimal performance upgrades and desirable Series 1 features such as covered headlights, comfortable bucket seats, toggle switches on the dash, fabulous instrumentation, a center console, and arm rest, this E-type is ready for your favorite highway drive or as an entry at your favorite Concours. Regardless of the application, this E-type is sure to make a great addition to any Jaguar collection, as well as a great investment grade vehicle. The E-Type is accompanied by a JDHT Certificate, and a bundle of receipts documenting the extensive restoration process.
Launched in 1961 at the international motor show in Geneva, the XKE echoed the sensation of the XK-120, perhaps even more. An astonishing performance package, with amazing speed and handling, the XKE’s’ brand-new 4-wheel independent suspension system was so well conceived, it was used by Jaguar for over thirty years. The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver and is one of the most collectable of the E-Types. Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG, and a top speed of 140 MPH.
