Description

(SOLD) This original, numbers matching 1967 Series 1 E-Type roadster left the factory on February 23rd, 1967 bound for Jaguar Cars in New York. Although not much is known about the first owner, the second owner purchased this E-type on August 15, 1972 in Denver, CO. While in his care, this XKE was well maintained, and campaigned for 44 years. Over the last several years, the previous owner continued to improve and service the XKE mechanically and cosmetically, all the while leaving some areas original. The engine, gearbox, differential, and rear suspension were rebuilt, while the interior components were enhanced, or restored as needed. A new stainless-steel exhaust with chrome resonators, and porcelain manifolds were installed. Today it presents in its original color combination of Opalescent Silver Blue, fit with a beautiful Black interior as stated on its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. It is finished off with a Dark Blue Stayfast convertible top that was installed with bow straps, headliner, and trim. With having only two caretakers since new, the car drives beautifully, and is ready to afford the next owner with the spirited performance and pleasure which only a Series I XKE Jaguar can provide. This E-type comes complete with the owner’s manual, tools, boot cover, and a folder of receipts documenting the work performed. It is scheduled for a complete repaint, full service, and then a final detail to be performed by Classic Showcase, paying special attention to all the little nuances a new owner will appreciate, leaving this highly collectible E-type ready for this seasons show circuit, or just to be driven, enjoyed, and admired.

History

The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver, and one of the most collectible of the E-Types. These are wonderful cars with a 4.2-liter engine with 3 SU carburetors and a fully synchronized transmission. Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG and a top speed of 140 MPH.
