For over 32 years, McCormick’s Palm Springs Collector Car Auctions have run a family owned and operated auction company, holding two classic car auction events twice a year in Palm Springs, CA. With 500 vehicles being auctioned, it has grown into a Southern California tradition for buyers and sellers alike. This year’s Spring auction took place over the weekend of February 25th to 27th, 2022, and had a diverse selection of classic cars, motorcycles, and numerous eclectic vehicles. With a great selection of vehicles being auctioned and surprisingly pleasant weather, McCormick’s friendly staff made this a great weekend event to attend.
History of McCormick's Palm Springs Auctions: Back in 1981, Keith McCormick had already become a successful entrepreneur in his native United Kingdom, but he longed to realize a dream to move to Palm Springs, California and devote his time entirely to his family...and his cars. In 1985, Keith hosted his very first exotic car auction. A modest affair, by today's standards, but one that would start a tradition. Today, Keith's relentless dedication to excellence and integrity has produced one of the most prestigious, respected, and successful car auctions in America.
This February saw an Italian-designed 1967 Ghia 450SS as the top sale at McCormick’s Palm Springs Classic Car Auction. The event featured 394 lots crossing the block, with 267 finding new homes. Multiple bidding wars erupted as buyers competed for fine American and European classic cars. Other top sales included Lot 460, 1971 Mercedes sold at $133,560, Lot 271, a stunning 1961 Chevrolet Impala 409 selling for $121,900 and Lot 255, a 1967 Ghia 450SS selling for $180,200.
The next McCormick's auction is scheduled for the weekend of Novemeber 18th-20th, 2022, and as always, the auctions are open to the general public, and dealers are also welcome. Each event features over 500 Classic & Exotic cars. The venue will be the Palm Springs Convention Centers Outdoor Special Event area in downtown Palm Springs, just steps away from many resorts, shopping and fine dining - we hope to see you there!
