This February's Semi-Annual Palm Springs, CA event saw convertibles from the 50’s-60’s dominate sales at its 64th Semi-Annual Exotic Car Auction. Approximately 530 vehicles were offered, and the weather was surprisingly warm after long periods of never-ending Southern California winter weather.
Auction Manager Jason McCormick stated that “Sales have rebounded from a downtrend a few years ago; cars from the 1950s and ‘60s are proving to remain in high demand". The 8 highest prices paid at the sale consisted of cars from the ‘50s-’60s, while a 1957 Porsche 356A cabriolet that sold for $180,600 topped out the sale. In addition, 8 of the top 9 cars were roadsters or convertibles.
