Restoration Finish

1964 Jaguar XKE
Series I 3.8 OTS

This Jaguar has recently completed a comprehensive and fully documented restoration to a Show/Driver level by Classic Showcase. It is a numbers matching example with a California black plate and comes with a Heritage Certificate of Authenticity. It has been restored to its original color combination of Opalescent Light Blue with Dark Blue interior and a Dark Blue cloth convertible top. The restoration of this vehicle to a Show/Driver level included the following: First, we fully disassembled and documented the vehicle. Then the body was stripped to bare metal, we metal worked the body and fit all body parts and chrome. We sealed, primer, painted the base coat, clear coat, color sanded and buffed all body panels individually off the car to perfection. We installed new rubber, seals, grommets and gaskets. All trim and brite work was replaced or re-plated. A new proper interior was custom made, fit, installed and includes leather sport seats and original wood steering wheel. The engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt. We rebuilt the carburetor, restored the radiator and gas tank. A new exhaust system was fabricated and installed. All mechanical components were gone through and brought back to exact factory specifications. We serviced, repaired or replaced the hydraulic system and suspension. The chassis was restored and other parts restored and refinished as needed. This is an ideal example for the Jaguar collector to add to their collection, drive, enjoy and compete in their favorite Concours.

1966 Jaguar XKE
Series I 4.2 FHC

Included in the restoration process the vehicle was stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, metal finished, leaded, all body parts fitted to the car and chrome, prepared for primer, sealer, paint, base, clear, color sanded and buffed to a fabulous finish. It received a new windshield and door glass. All mechanical systems and components were gone through, serviced, restored or replaced as needed. The engine and transmission was rebuilt back to factory specifications as well as the rear end and suspension. All other systems such as the electrical system, hydraulic system, cooling system and fuel system were restored or replaced and the car received all new rubber and a complete new wire loom. The car also received a new correct exhaust system, new battery, the gas tank was epoxy sealed and the radiator has been restored. All chrome was re-plated. The car received a complete new custom tailored and fit interior in the correct materials by our upholstery department. A DVD of the restoration process will accompany the vehicle. Under Restoration

1953 Jaguar XK-120 FHC

This 1953 Jaguar XK120 FHC is a fabulous example to be restored to a Show/Driver level. It has previously received most of its nut and bolt correct and documents/receipts from all restoration work by Jaguar professionals, and Classic Showcase has purchased the car to see it through the completion of the restoration. In its previous restoration work the body was stripped to bare metal, metal worked, fit all body parts and chrome, sealed, primered, painted base coat, clear coat, color sanded and buffed. All mechanical systems and components were gone through and restored. Classic Showcase will check all prior mechanical work to ensure that the level of work and correctness to Jaguar factory specifications has been met or exceeded. Classic Showcase’s talented upholstery department will be custom trimming the interior with all new raw materials, fitting and installing a new complete interior to include all correct British materials, leather seats and new headliner. All new rubber seals and grommets will be installed. All instruments will be restored, new stainless steel exhaust system installed, aluminum radiator and all brite work will be re-plated. It features a 4 speed transmission, wire wheels and documents/ receipts from all previous restoration work. A DVD of the restoration will accompany the car. Upon completion of the restoration, with no expense spared, this will be a superb example ready to enjoy, drive, campaign and compete in your favorite Concours.

This 1967 Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa is very rare and highly collectible. There were few of these vehicles manufactured from the factory, and even fewer still in existence today. This Porsche is currently undergoing a complete and fully documented restoration to a Show/Driver level by Classic Showcase. The restoration of this vehicle to a Show/Driver level will include the following: Fully disassemble and document the vehicle. Body stripped to bare metal, metal work the body, fit all body parts and chrome, seal, primer, paint base coat, clear coat, color sand and buff all body panels individually off the car to perfection. New rubber, seals, grommets and gaskets, all trim and brite work will be replaced or re-plated. A new proper interior will be custom made, fit and installed and will include leather sport seats and original wood steering wheel. Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2010

September 23-25, 2010, at Mandalay Bay Resort

Barrett-Jackson only runs four of its world-famous collector car auctions each year. The final auction is one of its newer ones. This week is Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction which appropriately takes place on The Strip at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Every year, millions of people drop billions of dollars in casinos looking to win the big jackpot. At Barrett-Jackson, car buyers will spend millions of dollars hoping to hit the jackpot by buying the car of their dreams or a collector car that will increase in value. So here are ten of my favorite cars from this week’s auction that will at least be cool for the lucky buyer that hits the auction block jackpot. View the complete results here. - Sports Car Digest

  • I am looking to purchase a Classic Jaguar for myself and my wife. What is the difference in the driver’s comfort in the seats between the early XKE’s and the late XKE’s?

    Rich Erath Asked-Napa Valley, CA

Tom Says:

The early XKE has a Bale Seat that looks great but does not recline and is not real comfortable for larger people. The late series I seats are bigger and much more comfortable. Series II seats have a back that recline and in the late series II they have backs that recline and have head rests. Series III seats are even more comfortable then series II seats.

  • Why did Jaguar stop making covered headlights in 1967?

Bob Leonard- San Diego, CA

Tom Says:

Federal auto equipment and safety regulations came into effect in 1967 and they felt that the glare was too high and that it would distract on-coming traffic. Jaguar was no longer able to import any vehicles with covered headlights to the United States. The headlights were changed primarily to accommodate the American market.

    • How do I purchase a Heritage Certificate for my Jaguar?

    Joe West- Phoenix, AZ

    Tom Says:

If you are a member of a JCNA club, you can purchase them at a reduced price. If you go to the JCNA website, www.jcna.com, there is information there on how to purchase the certificate. You will need proof of ownership of the Jaguar and then you will need to fill out a form and send in your payment. Next, you will receive a proof to verify that your information matches the car and once they have the proof signed off, the original certificate will be mailed to you.

    • Will the E-types appreciate in value next year as it will be the 50th anniversary for E-types?

    Carl White- Florida

    Tom Says:

Yes, the E-type has made a significant impact in the sports car market and people all over are fascinated with the E-type. They are harder to find and the best examples are demanding the best prices in the market.

Maintaining Your Classic for the Winter Season

    • Don't let the winter months cause unnecessary damage to your classic. If you plan to store your classic this winter, follow these simple precautions to keep your baby safe and happy.

      1. Drain the petrol. If you do not, then add a few drops of additive so your gasoline in the tank will not break down or go bad and cause problems to the carburetors or fuel pump. Marvell Mystery Oil is an amazing product and you'll find it works wonders. To add oil to the gas, put a small amount into the cylinders.

      2. Disconnect the battery. If it is very cold, remove the battery completely and place on a trickle charger.

      3. Place your vehicle on jack stands. This will save your tires from getting a flat spot from sitting. If you don't have access to a stand then slightly over inflate the tires to compensate for the amount of time they won't be in use.

      4. Make sure the car has plenty of anti-freeze.

      5. Keep your classic in a dry environment; if possible a climate controlled one. Never store a car on the dirt. When wet it can cause rust. Always try to park your car on the pavement.

      6. Finally, give her one last polish, put a car cover on, say your goodbye, and put her away until you are ready to take the scenic route again.
