A CLASSIC SHOWCASE IN-HOUSE RESTOARTION
The comprehensive restoration started with stripping the car to bare metal, body working and metal finishing the monocoque on a rotisserie, installing new rubber and fitting the chrome (while on the rotisserie), then dissembling and preparing the car for paint, and eventually painting a base coat, clear coat, then wet sanding and buffing to give a great finish.
An all-new interior in all of the correct materials has already been created and our Master Trimmer is now in the process of installing it to the car. Our team has also restored the E-Type’s steering wheel, added various new hardware where needed, restored the instruments, and refurbished the car’s heater system...
On the mechanical side, the XKE’s engine, transmission, rear end, and hydraulic systems have been completely gone through, with the suspension being restored as well. The carburetors were fully rebuilt as were the starter and alternator. Our team also hot tanked and epoxied the gas tank and then painted it in the booth. We have also added a brand-new exhaust system, as well as a new battery, a fresh set of wheels and tires, and much more. The E-Type is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2022. Stay tuned to Spring 2022 issue for an update on this sleek E-Type build!
