History
The Camaro was Chevrolet’s response to the wildly successful Mustang introduced by Ford in 1964. Though similar in size and mission, the two cars differed in two significant ways. First, the designers of the Camaro intended to give the car a more streamlined appearance. Second, unlike the unit-body Mustang, the Camaro was engineered with a partial frame in front, intended to yield better noise isolation and ride quality, and a unitized rear for cost savings and space efficiency. The 1969 model was given a facelift that featured redesigned front fenders, doors, quarter glass, header and valance. Flattened wheelwells gave the car a more aggressive stance. The standard grille was reshaped with sharper angles.
