Description
This 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 Roadster, accompanied by a clean California title, is just now entering the early stages of a comprehensive Show-Driver Level rotisserie restoration. The restoration will feature a beautiful (to be decided) Opalescent Silver Grey or Gunmetal exterior finish, complemented by a rich Burgundy leather interior. With work just beginning, there is still a great opportunity for the buyer to other features and/or personalized upgrades to create an E-Type tailored to their preferences.
The Show/Driver restoration will include a complete disassembly, photo documentation, and stripping of the body to bare metal before mounting it on a rotisserie. Our team will then address any issues, followed by extensive metal finishing and lead work where necessary. Careful attention will be given to body alignment, panel fitment, and surface prep before the XKE receives primer, sealer, base coat, and clear coat, followed by color sanding and buffing to achieve a beautiful Show-Driver finish.
Mechanically, the E-Type will receive a comprehensive restoration of its engine, transmission, suspension, rear end, braking, cooling, fuel, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Components will be carefully inspected, rebuilt, restored, or replaced as needed, including necessary engine machine work, wiring, instruments, rubber seals, and all associated hardware. Chrome and brightwork will also be restored or re-plated as needed. Our in-house Master Trimmer will complete the interior in Burgundy leather, with carefully tailored seats, door panels, carpeting, and trim using high-quality, period-appropriate materials.
With restoration now getting underway, interested buyers still have time to discuss modifications, and other options with our team before the build progresses further. The restoration process will be documented through photographs and video, providing a lasting record of the craftsmanship involved. Upon completion, this Series 1.5 Roadster is sure to be a beautifully restored E-Type, perfectly suited for driving, showing, or to collect as an investment. History
The Series 1.5 E-Type Jaguar, referring specifically to the 1968 model year vehicles produced for the US and Canadian markets. With respect to right hand drive ("RHD") markets, it appears that RHD markets did not receive the Series 1.5 specification cars throughout the 1968 model year. Rather, RHD markets received a closer continuation of the Series 1, known unofficially as the Series 1.25 (essentially a Series 1 vehicle in every respect, with the exception of open headlights). Although not officially recognized as a distinct series by Jaguar, the Series 1.5 cars are unique as they contain certain features of both the Series 1 and Series 2 cars. The Series 1.5 name has therefore been broadly adopted to categorize these particular vehicles. Approximately 5,621 vehicles were produced within the chassis number range for the Series 1.5 E-Type, all of which were built between August 1967 and July 1968 (The Series 2 was then produced from August 1968).
