Description
(SOLD) This customized 1971 Jaguar XKE roadster boasts a robust 5.7-liter Chevrolet V8 crate engine, complete with a new upgraded FiTech EFI fuel injection system and mated to a 5-speed Tremec T5 manual gearbox. It is the culmination of a comprehensive 6-year restoration, meticulously documented in photos, showcases a bare-metal respray in Opalescent Silver Blue applied with DuPont Automotive paint and clearcoat. Other enhancements include a new E-type FABS major subframe from the U.K., featuring brass and polyurethane bushings, and a custom side exhaust. 16”x7” Dayton Wire Wheels with knock-offs and a spare KO wheel in the trunk contribute to the car's visual appeal, riding on P215/60R/16 Michelin tires. Inside, the original-style black wrinkle-finish dashboard is retained, but updates feature AutoMeter gauges, a Nardi steering wheel, 4-point seat belts, a fuel cell, power door locks, a Kenwood stereo head unit, and LED lighting throughout.

History
Launched in 1961 at the international motor show in Geneva, the E-type, or XKE, echoed the sensation of the XK-120, perhaps even more. An astonishing performance package, with amazing speed and handling, the XKE’s brand new 4-wheel independent suspension system was so well conceived, it was used by Jaguar for over thirty years. In 1971, a new 5.3 liter 12-cylinder Jaguar V-12 engine was introduced, with upgraded brakes and standard power steering and was available only as a convertible and a 2+2 coupe. This is the second to last year that Jaguar produced the E-type. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floor plan. It is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.
