Description
(SOLD) It is very rare to ever find a car that looks like it did the day that it left the showroom floor. Here is your opportunity to own one of the most spectacular, original examples in the world today, with very limited ownership. This beauty was meticulously maintained by its 1st owner, who kept the top in excellent condition, the wood gleaming, rear window clear as day, and the Doeskin leather interior soft and supple, with almost no wear. Being a V12 it offers a smooth, and fun ride. It was regularly serviced, and logged down since 1987. With a dutiful previous owner, you will reap the benefits as this Jaguar comes complete with: the original window sticker, original Bill of Sale, Jaguar Certificate of Origin, the original Odometer Statement at purchase, a copy of the original title, comprehensive service records, the owner’s portfolio/books, factory floor mats, original keys, factory trunk tools, the convertible boot/storage bag, the bag that holds the roof panels, and the Intro tape cassette and cassette cleaner kit. It has the unique top that offers both the Targa, or convertible, configuration. Also in the car is an in-car mobile phone system, installed in 1988, and comes with a receipt for lifetime free removal. Don’t let this gorgeous lady in red pass you by, as she is ready for a new garage to call her own.
History
For 1987, Jaguar added the XJ-SC two-seat cabriolet to the V-12 coupe. It had removable Targa roof panels and a manually-operated folding rear-quarter top. The cabriolets included full rear luggage-area carpeting and two locking storage bins. They had a removable hardtop section with heated rear glass, which could be mounted in place of the folding soft top. A three-speed automatic gearbox was mated to the 326 cubic-inch V12 engine. It had an aluminum block and head, electronic fuel injection system, Thimble tappets, and offered 262 horsepower. There were very few changes to the coupe, except that it gained manual override to the climate-control system. A high-efficiency 5.3 HE version debuted in 1981. This used the special high-swirl design "May" cylinder heads, and had an unusually high compression ratio (10.5:1 – 12.5:1, depending on market and year). In any given market, power levels remained similar to the previous model, but fuel economy was improved by nearly 50%. The HE V12 engines had a fuel injection system from Lucas (dubbed Lucas Digital P) which was based on the Bosch D-Jetronic system
