CLIENT RESTORATION

About THE CAR and
THE RESTORATION

We have a long-term customer who has a nice collection of classic cars that our team has worked on over the years; this Fiat is special example to him, and one that he sought to take down to bare metal, finished, fitted, wet sanded, buffed, and painted to a beautiful stock White exterior. He chose to keep the Fiat in a stock condition, and as such commissioned our team of craftsman to perform a stock restoration to the vehicle and retain the car’s same original color combination. In order to achieve a flawless result, the car started disassembly in late 2021, and has just started to receive clear coat of paint.

While our restoration efforts are typically focused on British and German classics, this Fiat example is a very special car to the owner, and the team was more than happy to accommodate his restoration goals with the project. Catering to our client's needs is something we strive for, whether it is for the restoration of a multi-million dollar show car, or just restoring someone's pride and joy - Classic Showcase is ready to make those dreams a reality, and this restoration was no different!

Our first step in the process of restoring this Fiat was a complete disassembly of the vehicle, which included removing the engine, transmission, all the glass and chrome on the car...literally everything! It has been extremely rewarding to see the progress our team has made on this unique restoration.

Fortunately, many of the Fiat's original components on the car were in good shape; the mechanicals were in relatively good condition, and are being serviced, tidied up, and dialed in where needed. In addition, the 124's original Interior has remained in surprisingly good condition, and our trimmer will thoroughly clean, prepare, and carefully reinstall the interior after it completes body and paint work. While the original interior and mechanicals will mostly remain unchanged, the team will be replacing all major consumable parts such as rubber, clips, seals, fasteners, and more with brand new parts.

LATEST UPDATES

The body work on this process was substantial, but manageable. The team encountered several challenges during the process but were ultimately fixed properly using a combination of new metal, as well as the custom fabrication of specific pieces on an as-needed basis. The car is showing to be extremely solid now, and is now in the process of receiving a base coat of paint...

The Fiat is now starting to receive its first stages of paint and will be eventually wet sanded and buffed to a beautiful finish; the car will then be ready to be re-assembled and thoroughly tested before completion and delivery to the client. This restoration has been unique project for our team and is just another eclectic example of the kinds of restorations we can achieve for our clients. Stay tuned to our Winter newsletter for the conclusion on this special Fiat restoration!
