COVENTRY FOUNDATION

The Coventry Foundation Board of Directors have been  active in the previous quarter and have been working on acquiring new patrons to the Foundation, as well as receiving generous donations such as automobiles, parts, and memorabilia. Currently, the Foundation’s Board is in the process of reviewing new endowments for students who are seeking a formal education in automotive restoration and repair…in addition, the Board has also been working closely with the Jaguar Clubs of North America and all of its clubs spread out all over the country, with a goal of attracting Jaguar Clubs, as well as their members. Classic Showcase encourages both serious Jaguar collectors as well as enthusiasts to become patrons of the Foundation. Please visit coventryfoundation.org to become a patron today!

JAGUAR CLUBS OF NORTH AMERICA
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
MARCH 10-12, 2023

Several of our Foundation team representatives attended this year's AGM in San Francisco, CA. The meeting was hosted by the Jaguar Associate Group of San Francisco and held in Burlingame, CA on the waterfront just opposite San Francisco Airport. The AGM was organized into fun trips on Friday, with the main AGM Meetings on Saturday.  There was also a Jaguars by the Bay car show on Saturday and  awards banquet.

The future: The 2024 AGM will be held in Charlotte North Carolina,  March 14-17.  The location of the 2024 International Jaguar Festival is still undecided,  but a motion to the SDJC board that we host the AGM in San Diego in 2025 will be made. The IJF organizer presented a summary of the 2023 IJF to be held in Santa Barbara, October 29 through November 1.  Possible events will include a visit to the Petersen Museum, Canyon drive, Concours d'Elegance, Slalom, and a Rally. Please note that a final date and venue for the IJF is still undecided...please check our Summer 2023 newsletter for an update on this event.

Improvements and Changes: There were 35 concours events in the 2022 season, and JCNA Chief Judge who discussed improvements that could be made for 2023, including a comprehensive Rule book update. JCNA's Rule Book Editor gave a brief overview of the recommended changes to 2023 Concours Rule Book.  There are a total of 116 pages in the book,  most of which are clarifications with no real change to the rules.  The changes were approved with a show of hands from the floor.

Coventry Foundation Breakout Session:  Coventry members reviewed CF areas of responsibility, including Publications, Technical Line, JCNA Trophy Management, Tool Loan Program, JCNA Regalia, and Authenticity.  All agreed, club members should be reminded of the vast resources available through the Coventry Foundation.  For instance, there is now a World Diagnostic System available at Country Foundation West, located at Classic Showcase, as well as expansive tool loan wall and extensive library of manuals, books, and magazines.

Jaguars by the Bay Car Show:   There were some very well-presented cars and the weather "almost" co-operated.  It was dry enough to use a paper ballot, but wet and windy enough to keep the convertibles closed.  "Most hardy" entrant must have been George Barry in his open C-Type replica!  Best of Show was awarded to Phil Endliss with his wonderful 1966 Mark 10 Saloon in Two-Tone Green.

Formal Awards Banquet: Regional and National awards were handed out; National award winners must have won (3) JCNA sanctioned concours events in a calendar year; Regional winners must have won (2) JCNA sanctioned concours events in a calendar year. These victories are notable accomplishments, very competitive, and hard to achieve.
