1962 Jaguar XKE OTS Client Restoration

Spring 2023 Progress Update

About the Jaguar

A longtime collector client of ours that has purchased numerous vehicles from Classic Showcase commissioned us to have one of them – a 1962 Triple-Black XKE roadster - restored to his exact specifications while maintaining a mostly stock build. We have restored several other vehicles for the collector (including a recently restored 1963 Jaguar XKE Coupe) and were happy to take on another project for his ever-growing collection! This time, the collector was focused on acquiring a performance-minded roadster; he had been searching for a 1962 Series 1 Jaguar E-Type for quite some time, as his love for a sleek and powerful vehicle led him to seek out a specific model that would meet his high standards. Our team was thrilled to hear about his request and immediately set out to find a 1962 E-Type Roadster that would satisfy him and his restoration vision...

Spring 2023 Restoration  Update

Our team managed to find a great 1962 XKE core car example, and soon started restoring it to that of our Show-Driver level of restoration - along with some requested modifications. While the collector was interested in a mostly stock restoration, he and our team agreed on a spectacular triple-black color combination, as well adding a number of performance and aesthetic upgrades to the car, including:

• Restored factory black Jaguar hard top.
• Dunlop D-Type style wheels.
• Wider-style 205/70/15 6-inch tires.
• Electronic ignition.
• Classic Fabs custom made stainless steel, free-flow headers.
• Odometer conversion from miles to kilometeres.
• Radio-blanking plate with special racing instrumentation for slalom, rallying, and track time.

As with all of our early E-Type show and Show-Driver level restorations, strict attention to detail was given to this Series 1 XKE during the restoration...

About the Restoration...

This E-Type roadster has recevied a complete, documented vehicle disassembly, with the vehicle body fully worked, metal finished, fitted, and leaded as needed, with all body parts and chrome fitted to the car. It was primed, sealed, and had a base coat applied, and received clear coat, and finally color sanded and buffed to the beautiful finish that you see in the pictures today. All systems are in the process of being gone through, and are being restored and replaced as necessary. The engine, transmission, clutch, and hydraulic systems are in the process of being fully restored, and the car is receiving all new rubber, grommets and seals. Our master trimmer has fully restored the roadster's interior as well.

The roadster's parts and components have been restored in all of the proper colors and finishes, and we are using NOS parts whenever and wherever possible. Our master craftsmen have also fully restored a client-requested factory hard top for the roadster, providing a striking look to an already beautiful XKE. The roadster is inching closer and closer to completion, and is on track to be completed by the Summer of 2023! Be sure to view our next newsletter for a recap and final photo galleries for this awesome, fully restored, triple black Jaguar E-Type roadster!
