This XKE under restoration is an original Southern California car that has held long term ownership in one family since 1972, and is showing 93,000 miles, which is believed to be original. The E-Type is mostly original and was a great candidate for a high-level restoration. Read more about this exciting XKE restoration below.
A collector client of ours purchased this car to have us perform a restoration, and this is in fact the 3rd car he has acquired from us! The first car he purchased from us was a 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Black and Red roadster. The second car was a 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, also in Black and Red:
This car – the third car - we are building for him, will be his first XKE and like his other cars, it will also feature the Black and Red color scheme. The E-Type is being taken to our Show-Driver level of restoration, and has had a complete, documented vehicle disassembly, with the vehicle body fully worked, metal finished, fitted, and leaded as needed, with all body parts and chrome to be fitted to the car. It has been primed, sealed, and had a base coat applied, along with receiving a clear coat, and finally color sanded and buffed to a beautiful finish.
All systems will have been gone through, and will be restored and replaced as necessary. The engine, transmission, clutch, and hydraulic systems are being fully restored, and the car will receive all new rubber, grommets and seals. The upholstery is being restored by our master trimmer throughout. The roadster's parts and components will also be restored in the proper colors and finishes as well, using NOS parts wherever possible.
As with all of our early E-Type show and Show-Driver level restorations, strict attention to detail is being given because of the importance of this early, highly original car. Stayed tuned to our Fall 2020 Newsletter for an update on this soon to be sleek Black and Red E-Type roadster!
