As the restoration on this XK-150 S continues, we’ve prepped and painted the frame, and have started assembling the car in its own area, where we are installing all systems and components directly on the frame, which is progressing very nicely. While that is being done, we will be setting up a new 5-speed transmission and will join it to the motor so we may run it on our engine test station to setup and make adjustments. This will be done several times over a few days to ensure that everything is running properly.
In our body shop, our craftsman are tending to all of the various issues that can exist in these older vehicles; we are correcting rust and body damage, working on part replacement, and rebuilding door and trunk hinges to get the car straight while in bare metal. Even though this XK-150 S has a relatively good body, it still has some rust issues and damaged areas that needed our attention in correcting such as Door skin repairs, trunk floor replacement, and headlight pod replacements. Since original parts for the headlight ring were not available, our team has fabricated them instead, and will install when complete. The roadster’s front grill was fitted, and the metal was corrected to get the proper fit; the grill will go with the bumpers, and other brite work will be replated when the car is ready for painting. Our team has installed new rubber seals that are being fit during the bare metal stage, and are aligning other body components to the car.
