Last newsletter we discussed this sleek black & red E-Type client restoration that was started last year, and are pleased to say the roadster has been completed and delivered to its new owner! The client is a seasoned collector who purchased the car with the intent of having us perform a full restoration to it, and this is the 3rd car that he has acquired from us. The first car he purchased was a 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Black and Red roadster, and the second was a 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, also in Black and Red. He will now have a striking trio of 3 very special classics in his collection, and we were more than happy to assist him with meeting his vision!
The E-Type was taken to our Show-Driver level of restoration, and had a complete, documented vehicle disassembly, with the vehicle body fully worked, metal finished, fitted, and leaded as needed, with all body parts and chrome fitted to the car. It was primed, sealed, and had a base coat applied, and received clear coat, and finally color sanded and buffed to the beautiful finish that you see in the finished pictures today. All systems were gone through and were restored and replaced as necessary. The engine, transmission, clutch, and hydraulic systems were fully restored, and the car received all new rubber, grommets and seals. Our master trimmer fully restored the roadster's interior as well. The roadster's parts and components were restored in all of the proper colors and finishes, and we used NOS parts wherever possible. Our master craftsmen have also fully restored a factory Hard Top for the roadster, providing a striking look to an already beautiful XKE. As with all of our early E-Type show and Show-Driver level restorations, strict attention to detail was given to this Series 1 XKE during restoration. The roadster has been delivered to its new owner and is sure to be enjoyed in the upcoming Spring and Summer driving season!
