1964 Jaguar MARK II Restoration

A Classic Showcase Restoration

About the  Mark II  and its restoration

Our team of master craftsmen are currently in the process if restoring this 1964 Jaguar Mark 2 Sedan to that of our Show/Driver-level. This highly original California car is a numbers-matching example with limited ownership history that has always remained in the Western states. This great foundation made it an ideal candidate for restoration, and we’re excited to enhance it with carefully chosen performance and comfort upgrades....

WINTER 2024  RESTORATION UPDATE

The restoration began with a complete teardown, stripping the car to bare metal and placing it on a rotisserie for precise metal finishing and leading. Every body panel and chrome component has been expertly fitted, and the car has been prepared for primer and sealer. Soon, it will receive a stunning Metallic Silver finish, which will be beautifully complemented by a newly trimmed Dark Blue interior crafted from premium materials by our master trimmer. Our technicians have rebuilt the 3.8-liter engine, which will undergo testing on our engine station before installation, and the original transmission is being upgraded to a modern 5-speed for improved drivability. We are also rebuilding and upgrading key systems, including the fuel, electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems, while re-plating chrome components as needed to ensure the car’s brilliance matches its performance.

JAGUAR MARK II   HISTORY

Adhering to William Lyons' maxim of "grace, pace and space", the Mark II was a beautiful, fast and capable saloon car. It came with a 2.4 L, 3.4 L or 3.8 L Jaguar XK6 engine. The 3.8 is similar to the unit used in the 3.8 E-Type (XKE), having a different inlet manifold and carburetion (two SUs versus three on the E-Type in Europe) and therefore 30 bhp less. The head of the six cylinder engine in the E-Type was also different with its "straight port" layout as opposed to the slightly curved ports of the Mark II. The Mark II model was raced successfully in the European Touring Car Championship.
