A Winter '24 update on our latest Porsche restoration project.
This restoration continues to showcase the aggressive, classic GT look with welded-on metal flares and a range of exceptional upgrades. Powering this stunning Porsche is a 2.4-liter 6-cylinder engine (sourced from a Porsche 911) paired with a Porsche 901 5-speed sideshift transmission. Combined with numerous mechanical and aesthetic enhancements, this 914-6 GT is built to impress both on the road and the track.
Progress Highlights:
The bodywork has been completed to perfection, and assembly is nearly finished. Key mechanical upgrades include:
Engine and Drivetrain: A powerful 2.4L Porsche 911 6-cylinder engine, Rennshift shifter, resurfaced flywheel, and high-performance clutch system.
Hydraulics and Braking: Porsche 911 SC disc brakes with larger rotors and calipers for enhanced braking response.
Wheels and Tires: Period-correct 15” Porsche 5-lug Fuchs Turbo wheels mounted on brand-new tires, perfect for both track days and weekend drives.
Electrical and Fuel Systems: New wire harness, Weber carburetors, 914-6 oil tank with custom lines, and rebuilt tachometer and 150MPH speedometer.
Interior Upgrades:
The interior restoration is in its final stages as well. It features a classic black color scheme with thoughtful modern conveniences:
A period-correct Blaupunkt “Frankfurt” AM-FM push-button stereo system, enhanced by a hidden amplifier with Bluetooth and wireless connectivity.
Sound-deadening materials to reduce noise and heat for a more comfortable driving experience.
Fully rebuilt original instrumentation for an authentic look and feel.
This Racing Yellow 1972 Porsche 914-6 GT is almost ready to hit the road and turn heads wherever it goes.
