A Fall '24 update on our latest Porsche restoration project.
We began the restoration by carefully disassembling and cataloging every part of the 914-6, stripping it down to bare metal. The chosen finish for this build is Racing Yellow, perfectly complemented by a black interior. The bodywork has been been completed, and the team is now working on the assembly phase, where all the magic starts to come together.
Like the Shark Blue version, this 914-6 GT is undergoing a range of impressive mechanical enhancements. One of the key transformations is the conversion from a 4-cylinder to a 6-cylinder layout. This change requires significant adjustments to our usual restoration approach. To handle the increase in power, we’ll be upgrading the hydraulic system using Porsche 911 SC disc brakes with larger rotors and calipers to improve braking response. The
car will also be fitted with a 5-speed Porsche 901 sideshift
transmission, utilizing a top-of-the-line Rennshift shifter, a newly
resurfaced flywheel, and a high-performance clutch system. In addition, the Porsche will be equipped with period-correct, 15” Porsche 5-lug Fuchs Turbo wheels. Other mechanical features include Weber carburetors, a new wire harness, a 914-6 oil tank with custom lines, new engine mounts, fresh sheet metal throughout, and The 914-6 tachometer and 150MPH speedometer are being rebuilt as well.

In addition, the Porsche will be equipped with period-correct 5-lug Fuchs Turbo wheels, mounted on brand-new tires that are as ready for the track as they are for your weekend drives. The blend of classic styling and performance upgrades is sure to elevate the driving experience of this Porsche. The interior is also getting plenty of attention, with a full restoration in progress. The original speedometer and tachometer are being rebuilt, and sound-deadening materials will be added to reduce noise and heat, ensuring a more comfortable ride. To enhance the driving experience, we’re installing a period-correct Blaupunkt “Frankfurt” AM-FM push-button stereo system, along with a hidden amplifier that features Bluetooth and wireless connectivity. This combination allows for the best of both worlds: vintage aesthetics with modern conveniences.
When finished, this Racing Yellow 1972 Porsche 914-6 GT will turn heads wherever it goes. Blending timeless 914-6 styling with GT flares and contemporary upgrades, this car is designed to deliver a thrilling, unique, and powerful driving experience. With its upgraded engine, steel GT fender flares, and other performance enhancements, this Porsche will be one of the most unique 914 configurations on the road today. If you’re a Porsche enthusiast or collector in search of something truly special, you won’t want to miss the debut of this 914-6 GT.
