The 2024 San Diego Jaguar Club Concours d'Elegance was held this past July, and marked the 60th anniversary of the event! The Club and organizers delivered another well organized Concours. As a Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) sanctioned event, the show brought together an array of Jaguars, from classic models to current models. Club members from Southern California traveled to this picturesque San Diego park, united by their passion for Jaguars.
One of the event's highlights was Tom showcasing his recently built 1959 Jaguar XKSS re-creation. The XKSS, a legendary model known for its beauty and rarity, was expertly crafted to perfectly replicate the original. Attendees were mesmerized by the meticulous detail and craftsmanship that went into the build, making it an admired vehicle on the field. This stop in San Diego was just a brief part of the XKSS’s journey, as its next destination was the prestigious Monterey Car Week, where it was a centerpiece among some of the world’s finest automobiles. The XKSS was proudly displayed at both Motorlux, as well as The Quail Concours.
Another highlight was a recently restored 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2, purchased from Classic Showcase by one of our local California collector clients. While not new to car collecting, the collector is new to the world of Jaguar ownership and campaigning. After seeking us out, he was immediately drawn to the fact that this particular XKE was a numbers-matching example, complete with its original factory colors. He also appreciated that the car was already in the midst of restoration, as it allowed him the opportunity to add some personal customizations to the build. In addition we also provided guidance in becoming a Jaguar Clubs of North America member, so he could start campaigning his car at various events....his 1969 XKE made its post-restoration debut at the San Diego Jaguar Club's 2024 Concours, where it impressed judges and attendees alike, earning its first trophy! He was excited to see his Jaguar collecting journey begin with such a success, and plans on driving and enjoying his Jaguar on his favorite highways.
As always, the concours featured a wide variety of Jaguars, from early XKs and E-Types and even an original D-Type, to the sleek, modern F-Type and XF models. Judging was based on strict JCNA concours standards, with each car evaluated on authenticity, originality, and condition. Among the top award winners was a 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster, which took home Best in Class in the Vintage Division. Meanwhile, a jaw-dropping Jaguar XK120 won Best in Show, and a powerful 2020 Jaguar F-Type SVR captured top honors in the Modern Division.
Beyond the competition, the event fostered a wonderful sense of camaraderie among Jaguar enthusiasts. Attendees swapped stories, shared restoration tips, and reveled in the beauty of the cars on display. The relaxed atmosphere, complemented by vendor exhibits and a delightful lunch, made the day enjoyable for both seasoned collectors and newcomers alike. With its blend of world-class Jaguars, community spirit, and unforgettable show cars, the 2024 San Diego Jaguar Club Concours d’Elegance was a resounding success. As the event closes, anticipation builds for the XKSS’s upcoming appearance at Monterey Car Week, while the San Diego Jaguar Club continues to uphold its reputation as one of the premier JCNA event organizers.
