1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Liter OTS | Completed Custom-Build Restoration

A Classic Showcase Design Realized

In our Winter newsletter, we gave an update on this 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster as a unique in-house build, one that would blend elements from multiple generations of the E-Type into a single, cohesive design. Rather than restoring the car to a strict factory specification, the goal was to create a Classic Showcase interpretation of the early E-Type...one that reflects how many enthusiasts might choose to build and enjoy these cars today. That vision has now taken shape. The restoration and build are complete, with final sorting and road testing currently underway as the car approaches its finished form.

A Cohesive and Purposeful Design

What sets this E-Type apart is the way its design elements come together as a unified whole. Drawing from the early Series I 3.8 and 4.2 cars, as well as later refinements, the Roadster presents as a thoughtfully balanced interpretation rather than a collection of individual modifications. The exterior reflects this philosophy with its clean, purposeful appearance. The removal of the bumpers, revised lighting, and carefully executed body modifications give the car a more focused and aggressive stance, while still retaining the unmistakable lines that define the E-Type. Subtle details throughout the build reinforce its identity as a one-of-a-kind Classic Showcase creation.

Performance and Driving Character

Beneath the surface, the car has been engineered to deliver a driving experience that matches its visual presence. The combination of upgraded mechanical components and carefully integrated systems provides stronger performance, improved responsiveness, and greater overall usability. From the 5-speed transmission to the enhanced braking and cooling systems, each element has been selected to complement the car’s intended purpose as a driver-focused machine. The result is an E-Type that feels both familiar and distinctly elevated, offering a more engaging experience behind the wheel while maintaining the character of the original design.

Final Stages and Road Testing

As with any comprehensive build, the final phase is focused on refinement. The car is currently undergoing road testing and system checks, allowing the team to fine-tune performance, drivability, and overall balance. This process ensures that the finished Roadster not only presents at a high level, but also delivers the level of performance and reliability expected from a fully realized Classic Showcase build.

A Distinct Expression of the E-Type

This 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster stands as a unique expression of both Jaguar heritage and contemporary craftsmanship. It reflects a philosophy that values thoughtful design, performance, and drivability, while respecting the timeless appeal of one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. As a Classic Showcase original, it represents a different approach to restoration...one that embraces both tradition and evolution in equal measure.
