SPRING 2026 NEWSLETTER • VOLUME 82

1959 MG A Roadster | Client Restoration

In our previous newsletter, we introduced the restoration of this 1959 MGA 1500 Roadster, a project driven by the owner’s desire to create a more engaging and capable version of a car he had long enjoyed. With a clear vision in mind, the goal was to preserve the charm of the original MGA while thoughtfully enhancing its performance, reliability, and overall driving experience. Today, that vision has largely been realized. The restoration is now complete, with final sorting and road testing underway as the car prepares for delivery.

A Refined Driving Experience

At the center of the transformation is the upgraded 1800 cc MGB five main bearing engine, paired with the period-style supercharger system. This combination delivers a noticeable increase in power while maintaining the character expected of a classic British sports car. Supporting systems have been carefully integrated and refined, including upgraded cooling, ignition, and braking components. Together, these enhancements provide a more responsive and confidence-inspiring driving experience, while remaining true to the spirit of the original design.

Craftsmanship and Detail

The completed car reflects a high level of craftsmanship throughout. The exterior finish presents with clarity and depth, while restored brightwork and carefully aligned panels contribute to a clean and balanced appearance. Inside, the custom leather interior brings a richer level of finish to the cockpit, complemented by thoughtful details such as the refinished dashboard and period-correct audio system. Each element has been executed with attention to both aesthetics and function.

The Final Stages

As with any comprehensive restoration, the final phase is focused on sorting and refinement. Road testing, system checks, and fine adjustments are currently underway to ensure the car performs as intended in real-world driving conditions. This process is an essential step in delivering a finished vehicle that is not only visually impressive, but also reliable and enjoyable behind the wheel.

Continuing the Journey

The completion of this MGA marks an important milestone for both the owner and our team. It represents the successful realization of a long-term vision, blending classic design with carefully considered performance enhancements. Following this project, the owner has already begun the restoration of his 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II, continuing his enthusiasm for classic British sports cars. As that project progresses, we look forward to sharing further updates in future issues.
