As the collector car community begins to move into the
spring season, McCormick’s Classic Car Auctions returned to Palm Springs
February 20 through 22, 2026 for Auction number 80, delivering one of the most
impressive regional events in recent memory. With clear desert skies,
comfortable temperatures, and an enthusiastic crowd in attendance, the weekend
proved both productive and enjoyable for buyers, sellers, and enthusiasts alike.
A total of 297 vehicles crossed the block during the
three-day sale, with 166 cars sold and total sales reaching $3,936,151. These
figures reflect steady participation and continued confidence in the collector
car market at the regional level. One of the headline sales of the weekend was
a 1960 Porsche 356 Super 90 Convertible, which achieved $181,000. Strong
results such as this underscore ongoing demand for well-presented European
sports cars and properly sorted collector vehicles across multiple segments.
Several members of our team attended the event throughout the weekend
and were pleased to see our 2014 Jaguar F-Type successfully cross the block.
The F-Type attracted solid interest and ultimately found its new owner during
the Sunday portion of the sale, adding a great highlight to an already strong
weekend!

Beyond the numbers, what truly distinguished this sale was
the overall caliber of vehicles on offer. According to our team members, this
was one of the strongest selections McCormick’s has assembled in some time.
From American muscle and luxury offerings to European classics and sports cars,
the consistency of quality was noticeable across the board. Many consignments were
thoughtfully prepared and attractively presented, contributing to steady
bidding activity throughout the weekend.
A Longstanding Desert Tradition
Palm Springs itself continues to provide an ideal backdrop
for an event of this nature. The city has long embraced its mid-century
architectural heritage and retro aesthetic, making it a natural home for
classic automobiles. From the clean lines of modernist homes to preserved
signage and period design elements found throughout the community, there is a
deep appreciation for the style and spirit of the 1950s and 1960s. Collector
cars feel entirely at home in that environment.
The desert setting adds another dimension. Against the
backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains, rows of polished chrome, bright
paintwork, and sculpted body lines feel perfectly placed. For many attendees,
the weekend becomes more than an auction. It becomes a gathering that blends
automotive passion with a destination known for design, history, and lifestyle.
Regional auctions such as McCormick’s may not carry the
scale of nationally televised sales, but they serve as an important barometer
of the broader collector market and continue to offer meaningful opportunities
for buyers and sellers alike. Spring season begins to shift toward spring,
events like Auction 80 reflect renewed energy in the collector community and
set a confident tone for the months ahead.
