Description
(SOLD) Each body part was painted separately off the car. It has received a restoration under the hood to include a complete mechanical service, fresh fluids, fuel injection system serviced and calibrated, major tune-up and distributor rebuild. All components and panels were re-painted and the vehicle received a complete detail inside and out to include the undercarriage. It still features many factory original parts under the hood as well as its original boot, tools, gauges and Blaupunkt Becker Mexico AM/FM radio. Its leather seats and interior have received cosmetic improvements as needed and the interior of the car was removed when we painted the car and properly fit and re-installed. The wood in the car was carefully removed, stripped and re-finished. All brite work was re-plated inside and outside of the car, new rubber and seals were installed. Our goal in this restoration was to preserve its beautiful patina of originality. A DVD documenting the restoration accompanies the vehicle. It is in excellent running and driving condition. Books and documents accompany the car to verify the authenticity.
History
This is a late production 220SE with fuel injection which makes this car very desirable for driving. This fabulous 220SE we purchased from the original family with California black plates and it came with the original bill of sale from Los Angeles Mercedes Dealership. The owner was a doctor who drove the car every day to the hospital and impeccably maintained the car. It was always properly serviced and it still had the original paint and interior when it was purchased. The paint was showing age, so we repainted the car here at Classic Showcase. This matching numbers 220 SE Convertible is a recipient of a documented recent restoration by Classic Showcase to a Show/Driver level. During the restoration process the vehicle was completely documented, paint stripped to bare metal, metal finished, primered, sealed, painted a base coat and clear coat, color sanded and buffed to perfection.
