Description

This 1964 Jaguar XKE Coupe is a very original, numbers-matching California car. The E-Type in fact features a “J/64” stamped tag next to the data plate, which was assigned from the California DMV in 1964 – a unique and original feature that is exclusive to original registered cars in the 1960s in California!

The E-Type is in the process of being taken to our highest Show level, which includes a complete, fully documented vehicle disassembly, with the vehicle body fully worked, metal finished, fitted, and leaded as needed, with all body parts and chrome fitted to the car; It was then primed, sealed, and had a base coat applied along with receiving a clear coat, and finally color sanded and buffed to a beautiful finish. All major systems are being gone through and will be restored and/or replaced where necessary. The engine, transmission, clutch, and hydraulic systems are being fully restored as well, and the E-Type will be receiving all new rubber, grommets, and seals. The XKE’s upholstery is being completely restored by our master trimmer, and the roadster's other parts and components are being restored in the proper colors and finishes as well, using the finest NOS parts available wherever possible. Once completed this XKE will be ready for the show field or as an investment grade example, and an mp4 pictorial video file of the restoration process will accompany the vehicle. Upon completion of the restoration, this Series 1 1964 Jaguar FHC will be a great example to show and collect!

History

The Series 1 was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961. The domestic market launch came four months later in July 1961. It can be recognized by glass covered headlights (up to 1967), small "mouth" opening at the front, signal lights and tail-lights above bumpers and exhaust tips under the license plate in the rear. The Series I E-type is the most desirable of all the series with a 4 speed transmission, covered headlights, toggle switches on the dash, updated with late Series I comfortable bucket seats, center console, and arm rest. This makes the best driver and the most collectable for an investment. It is a timeless example of class and elegance joined with the strong racing history that Jaguar has become so well known for.
