Description
UPDATE: Please note there is a pending sale on this XKE; This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster is an original Southern California rust-free numbers-matching car whose previous owner was an expert machinist and car collector who demanded power and performance in his vehicles. This collector built engines for some of the most prominent restoration companies in the country, and in fact sought to make his E-Type a formidable opponent to Jaguar’s famous Group 44 Jaguar XJR-5 race car. To achieve this, he chose numerous performance minded component upgrades for the XKE, which included his own custom designed and fabricated pistons, Weber carburetors, Stainless Steel headers, and a free-flow exhaust system.
Mechanical/Performance Upgrades and other Features:
• Custom high compression billet aluminum pistons:
The pistons are machined to the exact specifications of the 1970’s Group 44 Jaguar V12 pistons.
• Porsche 944 turbo connecting rod bolts: These bolts were chosen for their addition strength over the stock style connecting rod bolt.
• Custom thickness composite head gaskets: this was done to increase the compression ratio of the engine.
• 6 Weber 40 IDF down draft carbs with custom throttle linkage and custom aluminum port match intake manifolds.
• Custom stainless-steel headers and collectors.
• Custom machined lighten flywheel.
• Cylindrical hydraulic clutch throw out bearing.
• Electronic ignition.
• Center force clutch.
• All factory smog equipment has been removed.
• Aluminum Radiator
• Gear Reduction Starter
• Headers
• New stainless steel exhaust with 4 tip resonators
• Updating the XKE's factory A/C system
• Covered headlight conversion
• Smaller over-riders for improved aesthetics
• Retrosound digital stereo system with additional speakers.
All other internal engine parts are either restored or replaced with stock 5.3 Jaguar V12 parts.
The collector unfortunately passed before his dream project could be finished, but his family took steps to find a proper home for his XKE, and after much research decided to let our team here at Classic Showcase finish the project he started. We soon acquired the car from the family, and our team soon began work on completing the restoration. In addition to the upgrades discussed above, our team are adding tasteful upgrades such as covered headlights and smaller over-riders for improved aesthetics to the car, as well as other upgrades we will unveil as the restoration progresses – please stay tuned to this page for further updates!

History
Launched in 1961 at the international motor show in Geneva, the E-type, or XKE, echoed the sensation of the XK-120, perhaps even more. An astonishing performance package, with amazing speed and handling, the XKE’s brand new 4-wheel independent suspension system was so well conceived, it was used by Jaguar for over thirty years. In 1971, a new 5.3 liter 12-cylinder Jaguar V-12 engine was introduced, with upgraded brakes and standard power steering and was available only as a convertible and a 2+2 coupe. This is the second to last year that Jaguar produced the E-type. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floor plan. It is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.
