Description

Superbly restored to our Show/Driver level by our team of master craftsmen, this 1964 Jaguar Mark II sedan benefits from an extensive bare-metal restoration along with a number of carefully selected performance and comfort upgrades. The result is a beautifully presented example that is equally rewarding to drive on the open road or display at your favorite Concours event.

This original California Jaguar has remained in the Western United States and proved to be an excellent candidate for restoration. Our team began with a complete disassembly of the vehicle, stripping the body to bare metal before performing detailed metal finishing, panel alignment, and traditional leading where required. All body components and chrome trim were carefully test-fitted to ensure precise alignment before the car was sealed, primed, and finished in a striking Metallic Silver exterior. The elegant finish is complemented by a beautifully trimmed Dark Blue interior crafted in correct materials by our in-house Master Trimmer.

Mechanically, the Mark II received the same level of attention. Its numbers-matching 3.8-liter engine was fully rebuilt to exacting standards and tested on our engine station prior to installation. The drivetrain was upgraded with a modern 5-speed transmission to enhance drivability and touring comfort, while the rear end and suspension were thoroughly refurbished. Additional work included a complete servicing and restoration of the fuel system, electrical system, cooling system, and hydraulic system, along with the installation of a new wiring harness to ensure long-term reliability.

The Jaguar's interior appointments were restored with equal care. The Mark II’s iconic wood dash and interior trim were painstakingly refinished to a deep, rich luster, while the interior was fully re-trimmed with properly fitted upholstery and materials consistent with the car’s original character. Chrome components were re-plated as needed, and every detail was carefully addressed to achieve the refined presentation expected of a properly restored Jaguar sedan.

Numerous upgrades were also incorporated during the restoration to improve comfort, reliability, and everyday usability while preserving the classic character of the Mark II.

History

Adhering to William Lyons' maxim of "grace, pace and space", the Mark II was a beautiful, fast and capable saloon car. It came with a 2.4 L, 3.4 L or 3.8 L Jaguar XK6 engine. The 3.8 is similar to the unit used in the 3.8 E-Type (XKE), having a different inlet manifold and carburetion (two SUs versus three on the E-Type in Europe) and therefore 30 bhp less. The head of the six cylinder engine in the E-Type was also different with its "straight port" layout as opposed to the slightly curved ports of the Mark II. The Mark II model was raced successfully in the European Touring Car Championship.
