Description
November Update:This 1967 Jaguar E-Type is a highly original, numbers-matching example with a remarkable two-owner history. Sold new in France, this rare French-delivery XKE features several European-market details including amber lenses, a kilometer-based speedometer, and other region-specific components. After the first owner later shipped the car to his Southern California residence, it remained with him for nearly five decades. The 2+2 retains its factory-original color combination of Silver Blue with a Dark Blue interior and showcases an exceptional level of originality.
Classic Showcase acquired the Jaguar after many years of careful storage at the original owner’s home. Its long-term provenance and outstanding originality made it an ideal candidate for a comprehensive show-driver restoration, which has now been fully completed. The exterior has been refinished in its original Silver Blue, as documented on the JDHT certificate, and the car now presents with concours-level fit, finish, and authenticity.
Our team performed a complete rotisserie restoration, beginning with a full evaluation and photographic documentation, followed by stripping the body to bare metal. The E-Type received extensive metal finishing and lead work, with all body panels and chrome test-fitted prior to final primer, sealer, basecoat, clearcoat, and color sanding to achieve a beautiful show-quality finish.
All mechanical systems including the engine, transmission, rear end, suspension, braking, hydraulic, cooling, electrical, and fuel were completely rebuilt, restored, or replaced. The matching-numbers 4.2L engine received full machine work including hot tanking, magnafluxing, line boring, crank machining, new pistons, rings, bearings, valves, guides, seals, timing chain, rebuilt head, restored SU carburetors, new clutch system, and more. The car also received a new wiring harness, rebuilt gauges and switches, a restored hydraulic system, new exhaust, rebuilt fuel system, new shocks, refinished brightwork, a new windshield, and a completely new custom-tailored interior in the correct materials crafted by our master trimmer.
The restoration is now complete, and the XKE is currently undergoing test miles and final sorting to ensure optimal performance. This rare European-delivery E-Type 2+2 is now available for purchase and ready to be enjoyed whether shown at concours events, driven on the open road, or added to a discerning collector’s portfolio.

History
Launched in 1961 at the international motor show in Geneva, the XKE echoed the sensation of the XK-120, perhaps even more. An astonishing performance package, with amazing speed and handling, the XKE’s’ brand-new 4-wheel independent suspension system was so well conceived, it was used by Jaguar for over thirty years. The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver, with all-synchro 4-speed gearbox introduced by Jaguar in 1965, and is one of the most collectable of the E-Types. Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG, and a top speed of 140 MPH.
