Description

(SOLD) This desirable, spectacular E-Type is going thru a comprehensive Show/Driver level restoration by Classic Showcase. Included in the restoration process the vehicle has been stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, metal finished, leaded, all body parts fitted to the car including brite work before it was replated, prepared for primer, sealer, paint, base coat, clear coat, color sanded and buffed to a lustrous finish. All mechanical systems and components have been gone through, serviced, restored or replaced as needed. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt back to factory specifications, has gone through machining, and the block was hot tanked and magnafluxed. We have replaced all worn or internal components, rings, bearings, timing chains, water pump, and installed new gaskets and seals. The head has been also completely dissembled and machined, and had been replaced with new valves, new bearings, and new keepers in the process. All systems including the electrical, hydraulic, cooling, and fuel will be restored or replaced, and the car will receive new rubber, grommets and a new wire loom. The car will receive a new correct exhaust system, new battery, the gas tank will be epoxy sealed and painted, and the radiator restored. The car will receive a complete new custom tailored and fit interior in the correct materials by our professional upholstery department. We will restore the top bows, fit and install a new top, as well as a boot cover. A DVD of the restoration process will accompany the vehicle. This is a fabulous example E-type with a spectacular color combination, which any Jaguar collector, or enthusiast will admire and enjoy.

History

The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver, and one of the most collectable of the E-Types.Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG, and a top speed of 140 MPH.
