History
The Mercedes Benz SL has been manufactured by Mercedes since 1954.The 1971 marks the end of production of the 280SL. In the last two years of production the 280SL saw minor changes to switch knobs and wheel trim rings became full hubcaps. The designation SL derives from the German Sport Leicht, or Sport Light. It is also one of the world's safest sport vehicles. Of the 23,778 280SL’s produced from 1967 to the end of production in 1971only 12,778 were sold in the US. As the last of the hand-built Mercedes, these are becoming very collectable. This Mercedes Benz has had three owners since it rolled out of the factory. It has always received proper services and has been garage kept. These cars are highly sought after due to its sporty performance, and practicality.
