(SOLD) Looking for a series I XKE with covered headlights, toggle switches, a 4.2 with all the benefits of the iconic E-type, but you wanted a car you can drive and enjoy, then this is the one for you. This XKE was the subject of a restoration by Jaguar professionals a few years ago, and has just completed a recent mechanical service, and restorative services to freshen the car cosmetically performed by Classic Showcase of Oceanside, CA. During the prior restoration process, it had a complete repaint, wet sand and buff, with all systems gone through, and a new interior was added. This is a fabulous roadster for the Jaguar enthusiast that wants an E-type they can drive and enjoy, as well as collect. This XKE is in a spectacular color combination of Jaguar dark blue with a red interior, which is fitted with a dark blue cloth top, chrome wire wheels, and is very striking in appearance. A real head turner that commands attention wherever she may go.

History

The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver, and one of the most collectable of the E-Types. These are wonderful cars with a 4.2 liter engine with 3 SU carburetors and a fully synchronized transmission. Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG and a top speed of 140 MPH.
