Description
Classic Showcase is pleased to offer this beautifully restored, high-end driver-level 1965 Jaguar E-Type to collectors and enthusiasts alike. Built on January 18, 1965, and dispatched on February 1st to Ellis McClenny via Jaguar Cars New York, this is the 502nd left-hand-drive 4.2L Open Two-Seater (OTS) produced. The restoration began with a solid Texas car, benefiting from the region’s dry climate, and was performed by Jaguar professionals to a high standard.
The E-Type is accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming its matching-numbers status and original build. Previously owned by a well-known American musician and television personality, the car has been carefully maintained, driven sparingly, and kept in private collections since restoration. It was last sold through our showroom a few years ago and has since remained in the hands of a discerning collector who only drove it during summer months, storing it professionally at The Vault for the rest of the year with continued regular servicing.
Now presented in elegant, period-correct Opalescent Silver Blue with a Navy Blue interior and top, the car was originally finished in Primrose Yellow with a Black interior. During its restoration, the car received several tasteful upgrades, including Wilwood brakes, ceramic-coated headers, alloy radiator with auxiliary fan, stainless steel exhaust, electronic ignition, performance harmonic balancer, gear reduction starter, and a 15-inch steering wheel. Additional enhancements include Halogen headlights, a Bluetooth-enabled AM/FM digital stereo with iPhone input, and a spin-on oil filter.
With hallmark Series 1 features like covered headlights, triple SU carburetors, toggle switches, and proper seating, this E-Type is an excellent choice for both seasoned collectors and those seeking a ready-to-enjoy example of one of Jaguar’s most iconic models.

History
The Series 1 4.2 is a very user friendly, sporty driver, and one of the most collectable of the E-Types. These are wonderful cars with a 4.2-liter engine with three SU carburetors and a fully synchronized transmission. Some of the features of this model are covered headlights, toggle switches, full instrumentation with styling and a design that was way ahead of its time with center console, and arm rests. Other features of this Series 1 are its steep windshield and tail lights, which are placed above the bumper line in the rear deck. Similarly, the parking lights are above the front bumper line in the front fenders. In 1964 when the 4.2 was tested, fuel consumption was rated road reported at 22 MPG and a top speed of 140 MPH.
