Description

November 2025 Update: Originally delivered to California when new, this E-Type spent time in the San Francisco and Palo Alto regions and a was a truly solid and well-preserved candidate, perfectly ripe for a restoration. The Roadster’s body and monocoque were in excellent structural condition, giving it a fantastic foundation to build upon. In addition, our team will be making some tasteful performance, comfort, and aesthetic upgrades to the Roadster, including a conversion of open headlights to a closed configuration, conversion of the XKE's instruments from the 1.5 series style to that of a Series 1, wire wheels, and reclining leather seats with Series 1 style patterns.

*Please note there is still time to add other customized options to this build, including Air Conditioning, Gear Reduction Starter, an upgraded cooling system, Pro Sound System, Bluetooth, a Quartz Clock and much more! Please inquire soon to learn more about all of the options available to make this build yours.

Included in the comprehensive, rotisserie-restoration process, the vehicle has already been stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, metal finished, leaded, and all body parts will be fitted to the car and chrome. It has been primed, sealed, painted with base, clear, color sanded and buffed to one of our personal favorite colors - a fabulous Opalescent Maroon finish. Elsewhere, the Jaguar's other systems are in the process of being gone through, and the engine is being rebuilt back to factory specifications. The fuel, electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems are also being restored, and all chrome will be re-plated where needed. The E-Type is also receiving a complete new custom tailored and fit Tan interior in the correct materials by our master trimmer in our upholstery department.

Upon completion of the restoration, this Jaguar will be a great example to drive, enjoy and compete in shows! This 1968 XKE roadster represents a fantastic opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike, stay tuned for more updates! An mp4 pictorial video presentation of the restoration process will accompany the vehicle.

History

The Series 1.5 E-Type Jaguar, referring specifically to the 1968 model year vehicles produced for the US and Canadian markets. With respect to right hand drive ("RHD") markets, it appears that RHD markets did not receive the Series 1.5 specification cars throughout the 1968 model year. Rather, RHD markets received a closer continuation of the Series 1, known unofficially as the Series 1.25 (essentially a Series 1 vehicle in every respect, with the exception of open headlights). Although not officially recognized as a distinct series by Jaguar, the Series 1.5 cars are unique as they contain certain features of both the Series 1 and Series 2 cars. The Series 1.5 name has therefore been broadly adopted to categorize these particular vehicles. Approximately 5,621 vehicles were produced within the chassis number range for the Series 1.5 E-Type, all of which were built between August 1967 and July 1968 (The Series 2 was then produced from August 1968).
